Got Milk?

Milk does the body good, but not your carpet.  As a prime source of calcium, potassium, and vitamin D, it is especially important to consume milk and dairy products for healthy bone growth.  However, when the white liquid splashes from your cup, act quickly to lift it out of your carpet before it sets.  Otherwise you'll have a stain and smell you'll regret!  Here is a guideline on how to remove milk stains from carpet!

When there’s a stain:

 1. Combine 2 cups warm water and 1 tablespoon dishwashing detergent.

 2. Using a damp cloth, soak up the milk until the stain is gone.

 3. If the stain persists, combine 2 cups warm water with 1 tablespoon ammonia.

 4. Using a sponge, apply and blot the solution until the stain is no longer visible.

If the stain disappears but the smell persists, follow these tips to remove that sour milk odor:

  • Pour baking soda over the affected area and let it sit overnight.  Loosen in the morning with your hands or a small brush before vacuuming the area.
  • Spray the carpet stain directly with vinegar and blot using a clean cloth.
  • Sprinkle fresh coffee grounds directly onto the affected area. Vacuum after a few hours for an odor-free carpet!
